Long Range Planning Committee

Plainfield Township's Board of Supervisors established the Long Range Planning Committee by Resolution No. 2026-22 to serve as an advisory body supporting the Township's long-term planning efforts.

Purpose:
The Committee assists the Township with long-term planning by reviewing and recommending updates to the Township's Comprehensive Plan, reviewing and recommending updates to the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, assessing demographic, economic, environmental, and land use trends, and providing written recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on long-range policy matters. The Committee serves in an advisory capacity only and does not possess independent decision-making authority.

Membership:
The Committee consists of five members appointed by the Board of Supervisors: two members of the Plainfield Township Planning Commission, two members of the Plainfield Township Board of Supervisors, and one resident representative of Plainfield Township. Voting members serve three-year staggered terms, except that initial appointments may include shorter terms to establish staggering. Vacancies are filled by the Board of Supervisors for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Meetings:
At its first meeting each year, the Committee elects a Chair and Vice Chair from among its voting members. For the remainder of 2026, the Committee will hold its monthly meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM, prevailing local time, at the Plainfield Township Municipal Building, 6292 Sullivan Trail, Nazareth, PA 18064. All meetings comply with the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act, including public notice, open meetings, and the keeping of minutes. A majority of the voting members constitutes a quorum. All interested persons are encouraged to attend.

Reporting:
The Committee provides written or verbal reports to the Board of Supervisors monthly, or more frequently upon request. Recommendations are submitted in writing and may include supporting data, analysis, or proposed actions.
